It all started last Sunday evening when I noticed I had a little bit of a cough. Nothing serious, mostly dry, and not constant. By Thursday it had gotten a little more constant and a little more wet, but still nothing too concerning. By Friday night it was joined by a sore throat. I woke up Saturday unable to swallow comfortable so I took my butt to the Prompt Care center the moment it opened, worried I might have Strep Throat.
I didn't. Nope. I had Bronchitis.
The perks to Bronchitis? Being about to quote Sweet Brown all you want:
Ain't nobody got time for that!
I skipped work for a day because my doctor told me I'm probably contagious and, yeah, I was being considerate. That and my throat still hurt. Come Monday the throat was gone but this annoying hacking cough was still here. But Monday is apparently the day my work will fall apart if I'm not there, so I went. And I felt alright. Tuesday I felt fine enough to go to school, at least for half the day.
Then Tuesday night came and suddenly my ear started hurting. Then it hurt a little more. Then a little more. By midnight I realized something was really wrong and there was no way I was going to be able to sleep. I haven't had an ear infection since I was 10ish, but I know an ear infection when I feel one. Off to the Emergency Room I went.
Sure enough, I had a middle ear infection. Oh joy. Some antibiotics and baby-friendly pain killers later I was back at home with instructions to not leave bed for at least 48 hours. I decided to happily oblige that.
Here's the thing. I am NEVER sick. Or at least not this sick. I get a cold maybe once each winter that makes me feel gross, but never sidelines me for any period of time. This winter I've had the flu, two colds, bronchitis, and an ear infection. I blame the baby. Seriously, I think this kid is sucking my will to live. Or my immunity, one of the two! I'm even taking more vitamins and eating better than every before! I should be HEALTHIER, dammit!
But hey, if getting a little sniffle here and there is the worse thing that's going to happen in my pregnancy, I'll take it.
