Walgreens Prescriptions Savings Club

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you've been a Walgreens Pharmacy customer for a while now you are probably familiar with the Express Scripts program, a program that allows Walgreens customers to get their prescription medications at a discounted rates.  Unfortunately, on December 31st, 2011 negotiations between Walgreen and Express Scripts were unsuccessful and Walgreen has been dropped from the Express Scripts program (read their press release: Walgreens and Express Scripts).  Walgreens is disappointed that their many attempts to work out an arrangement with Express Scripts has fallen through.

This change will affect many who benefit from the discounts they receive through Walgreen as part of the Express Scripts program.  People like military families, retirees on fixed incomes, and lower income families.  These families are now finding themselves having to drive farther from their homes in order to get the medications they need at a price they can afford.  Many have been Walgreens customers for years and have a relationship with their local pharmacists and are now having to leave the place they are comfortable at.  As you can imagine, few are pleased with this situation.

There is good news, though!  When walking into my local Walgreens yesterday I notcied a sign advertising a special program offered through Walgreens called the Prescriptions Savings Clubs.  For just $5 for an individual or $10 for a family through January 31st you can take advantage of this great savings program!  Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens has benefits that include savings on more than 8,000 brand-name and generic medications, discounts on flu shots, PET prescriptions, nebulizer, and diabetic supplies.  It includes bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services as well!

While the loss of support from Express Scripts will affect many, I appreciate the effort being put forth by Walgreens to maintain the happiness and comfort of their clients.  If you'd like more information be sure to check out Walgreens on Facebook and Walgreens on Twitter to find out the latest on this great program and the failed negotiations with Express Scripts.

I wonder how the Walgreens' drug prices compare with what I pay using my RxDrugCard. Is there a list somewhere?
