But how eco-friendly is it? Actually, I was surprised by HOW eco-friendly it really is! This is what the website has to say on the subject:
"The Sleep Pad running continuously for 8 hours only consumes 0.64 kWh of electricity. So for example, if you pay $0.10/kWh, that equates to 6.4 cents per night. Compare that to your AC unit!"
And I do invite you to compare that with your AC unit. While my first electril bill was nearly $200, my second was just a little over $100! That's almost $100 worth of savings in the first month alone! I did a few other things to utilize the Cool or Heat Sleep Pad during the day so I could save on even more energy. First, we made the decision to stop using the bedroom and instead set my apartment up as a studio where my bedroom is also the living room. We then closed the vents in the bedroom so the AC unit was only heating the front half of the apartment and set that to 85 F. I then started using my bed as my couch and would set the Cool or Heat Sleep Pad to 75 F and sit on that while I did my work and watched TV. My dog loved this solution because he could just sprawl out on the sleep pad and be comfortable as well.
I know. I think this has been my longest review ever, but trust me, this product deserves every word of praise I am giving it. I am IN LOVE with it!!
What I Don't Love: The only thing I could possibly think to put here is the lack of sized available. The Sleep Pad is available in only one size- twin. This is so you can buy two if you share a bed and each person can adjust their own temp. And while I do occasionally have my boyfriend sleep over I also sleep alone sometimes. I have a double bed and would really love to have my sleep pad cover the whole bed instead of part of it. But really, that's my only complaint and it's not even that big of a deal since I find I toss and turn less wit it on my bed and therefor only need it to cover the part of my bed I actually sleep on! No point wasting energy heating a large unit! Some people may also complain that you can feel the coils in the pad itself, and while I did when I first put it on my bed, once I laid down I couldn't feel them anymore and the pad actually made my bed MORE comfortable even when I don't turn it on (on the rare cool night).
