I travel quite a bit for work and pleasure and tend to be REALLY tough on my luggage and other travel gear. So I'm always buying travel gear for it's strength and durability, not really for how eco-friendly it is. So when I stumbled upon GreenSmart and their line of backpacks and messenger bags I thought "perfect!"! A great way to be eco-friendly with some of my travels.
So how much can 31 plastic bottles turned into a messenger bag hold? Quite a bit, actually! I fit not only my 15.4" laptop in there, but also some extra padding, my dSLR camera, two lenses, my flash, and some CF cards along with my spare batteries and chargers. On top of that I squeezed in my DS Lite, iPod, and a set of headphones. The front pocket of the Baringo Messenger Bag was perfect for holding my itenirary, passport, and tickets so they were safe and easy to access.
My only complaint about the GreenSmart Baringo Messenger Bag is the lack of zipper or snap of some sort in the main compartment and a secure way to latch the flap. It attaches through to magnets in the front, but when loaded full the magnets wouldn't attach. So the flap could flop open and reveal everything held inside. This made going through security easier, but made my worry about something falling out of the bag. However, nothing did, in fact everything seemed nice and secure in the bag, but I still worried.
What I Love: The GreenSmart Baringo Messenger Bag is durable, eco-friendly, and very attractive! It holds a lot and fits well underneath an airplane seat even when packed full. If you travel a lot like I do, you know how valuable this is! The price is also very decent for the quality of this product! I also really love the variety of colors and options available! This bag would also make a fantastic eco-friendly Diaper Bag! It's roomy with a ton of pockets, perfect for cloth diapers, cloth wipes, and a wet bag!
What I Don't Love: Lack of snap, zipper, or other way to secure the main comparment and the flap besides the magents. But that's it!
GreenSmart sells a wide variety of Backpacks, Laptop Sleeves, Messenger Bags, Lunch Boxes, Bottle Koozies, and Wine Totes. Each product is made very durably using recycled plastic bottles, saving them from land fills!
The Baringo Messenger Bag is the most expensive option of GreenSmart Messenger Bags and sells for $99.95 on the website. However, there are two more affordable and equally wonderful options; the Narwhal ($79.95) and the Puku ($89.95). The investment is well worth it- these strong bags will last you years and years even with lots of abuse and use!
Another favorite product of mine is the GreenSmart Laptop Sleeves. They are well padded but not bulky and sell for $24.95-44.95 on the GreenSmart Website.
These would make great gifts for a college student, new Mom, or business professional who likes to travel!
I cannot believe I get to offer one luck reader a GreenSmart Baringo Messenger Bag! This is a $99.95 value and is worth way more than that! Made of 31 recycled plastic bottles, this messenger bag has many uses and is also very eco-friendly from a great company!
